Children's Classes & Activities
We offer Classes for babies, toddlers, and school age children in the following areas:
Music & creative movement
Pre-play groups

Tumbling

Spanish & French language
Adult-baby play
Adult-baby exercise
Workshops For Parents & Caregivers
Individual workshops for are planned throughout the year with expert, guest speakers on specific topics related to family life and child development. Topics include:
CPR
Child discipline
Separation anxiety
Choosing a nursery school
Sibling rivalry
Nutrition
Sleep problems
Anxieties of parenting
Schools in District 15
Anger management
Support Groups
Small groups of women, men and couples meet weekly to discuss their common concerns about their children, parenting, careers or whatever is on their minds. Ongoing groups and special groups for new mothers are led by professional staff members.
Special Events
Throughout the year, we coordinate special events for Families First members as well as the entire Downtown Brooklyn community. Some of these events are:
"Super Saturdays"
Pot luck suppers
Holiday parties
Open house events
Annual street fair
Space rental for birthday parties
Drop-In
Drop-in provides a regular opportunity for children to play together for in well equipped play rooms. Facilities include a toy area, library, art room, and plenty of safe, spacious area with riding toys, mats, and lots of running room! Child care staff is available to help with supervision of your children.
Even A Newsletter...
A monthly news letter, coordinated by parents, provides a regular channel for detailed information on:
- upcoming classes
- community services available
- program schedules
FAMILIES FIRST is a not-for profit parenting center governed by a Board of Directors who set us goals. Parent volunteers help publicize and run our events.
